Small people

"A dire situation you faced. Well, rest assured, that sort of thing will likely never happen here."

"perhaps, but i still harbor bad memories and feelings about it... its a wonder i sleep at all..." i said honestly, turning to look back outside

"Well, I say you, and everyone else, is handling the situation rather well, people tend to be rather...suicidal after having to endure a situation like yours for so long."

"most of them dont ever remember the outside world... Carson, me, Risa, Emily, Josh, and Kaylee are the only ones who do remember the outside world at all... and i wouldnt give them the satisfaction, i want them to know they losed, i want to end it so i know that no other child has to go through it..."

"Do you have any idea where others may be? If there are any?"

"the one i originally came from was in the mountains about a mile east of here, but it was.... cleansed.... and i, the only survivor having escaped just as they started, was moved to a new location, one that im sure is being clensed as we speak, about a mile away from here, hidden in the forest... if anyone escapes, they... either kill them or move them to a more risky operation for experimentation... thats how i became a... a... freak..." i said, looking down at my body, the way my leg was held so it wouldnt cause me pain as i sighed "and i cant tell you about the expiriments... else i suffer another seizure or coma... even if i wanted to relive those horrid days..." i said with a sigh

"So we'll never know. But lighten up, you hardly seem like a freak, and many look up to you, disproving your opinion."

"they look up to me because im the one who forced himself to stand up and take order into his own hands... sure their opinion of me is great, but now that we are free, and we are being moved into homes, ill never see them again.... as for me, only 3 peoples opinions matter... Sonia, the little girl on row 3 bed H, thinks of me as her brother, and world... and Risa, she cant even remember her own name yet, so its always in a constant flux with her, like she cant decide to like or hate me... as for myself, i despise myself... a person my age shouldnt have to kill people on a daily basis to make sure people are safe, and not feel a thing about ending their life..." i said, gripping a metal bar nearby with such force that it groaned in protest and sighed "or be able to shatter bones, and break metal.... even if the doc's surgery does work, it wont heal my mind.... it wont heal the scars that developed before... so in the end, ill still be a freak to myself..."

"Look, it may seem impossible to believe at this moment, but you'll heal. Even if it takes the rest of your-"

"Hey, you," Lynda appeared suddenly. "Check on the sickly girl, Risa. She isnt waking up; shes not dead, but she isnt reacting to any stimuli."

"....." i instantly turned around and went straight to her bed and knelt down, worried about her "come on, what now.." i thought quietly to myself

"We need a monitor on her, immediately," Lynda said. "Her health is currently at a rather fragile state. I doubt she will die, but the risk is still there."

"then do so, and tell me what to do..." i said worriedly

"We can only wait," She said sadly. "When she comes to, not a word. She doesn't need to worry."

".... fine..." i sighed, sitting on my bed and crossed my legs, ran a hand through my hair and proceeded to watch the moniter carefully

Next day

"...G...Good morning..." I muttered, feeling dizzy.

"Morning!" i smiled, glad she had woken up, and they quietly moved the moniter away and let her wake up at her own pace

"Youre cheery today? Whats the occasion?" I asked slowly, still dazed, rubbing my eyes.

"i dunno, just that everything seems like it will be alright today..." i said, smileing a bit at how she didnt even relize how long she had been out

"It always seems that way, only youre too jumpy to notice," I teased weakly, smiling.

"give me a break alright? im just worried about you all the time is all..." i teased back, smiling as well

I laughed softly. "Well, im going back to sleep..."

"well, just make sure you sleep good is all i ask..." i said with a slight smile, still kinda worried about her

Lynda rushed over to me. "Wait! Um....dont you want to eat anything? Thirsty? Maybe want to get out a while?"

"Um...Im fine, thankyou," I smiled, noticibly puzzled on the bombardment of offers that involved me not going back to sleep.

"Lynda, let her sleep for an hour, and then ill wake her up and feed her myself, alright?" i asked, noting the conition Risa was in

Lynda gave up, wanting to say something but refrained from doing so. "...Alright, an hour. Hopefully."

The last word made me more confused, but decided to ignore the feeling.
