Small people

"hello there little miss hell on wheels..." i smiled at her as i limped over

"Hello...How are you feeling today?" I asked, smiling in return, regretting I couldn't come up with a similar title for him.

".... i fell asleep for most of the 3 days... when i wasnt asleep i visited you or got caught up on some of the events..."

"Im glad youre getting more rest," I said, relieved. "Would you say youre well enough to go outside for a bit? Look around and stuff?"

".... ill go outside, but i dont like it... its too open for my comfort..." i said simply, walking behind her and pushing the wheelchair for her

"Too open? Maybe its like that now, because of where we're from, but hopefully we'll get used to it."

"...." i nodded quietly and began looking around warily as i squinted through the light "they are giving out some weird beverage called coffee today, Carson said we should try it..." i said with a sigh, wheeling us over to where he was standing in a group

"Coffee? Is it the black liquid everyone seems to drink here- the staff, I mean?"

"yes... it has caffine in it which apparently makes little girls hyper as hell..." i said, watching Sonia literally bounce by with a cup in her hands

"...Thats not bad, is it?" I asked, slightly concerned.

"not really..." i smiled, watching the poor little boy get drug behind her

"...Is it sweet?"

"dunno, ive been told it tastes different depending on what flavor you get!" i said excitedly, getting both of us a cup of what i had been told would be a good starting point

"...You taste it first, and tell me if its really good..."

"...." i nodded as i took a sip and smiled "its fine, just take it in small doses..."

"What is it, medicine?" I laughed, taking a gulp of the stuff.

"no, more like a drink of energy..." i said, watching her

After almost drinking it all down, I stared at my cup. "...I dont feel anything. I feel normal."

"give it a bit... took sonia about 20 minutes to feel the full force of it..." a girl named Sarah said, having taken over watching her for me for awhile

"I see...Ill have more in the meantime."

"take it easy there, you can have half a cup more... i dont want you to die from an overdose of something we dont fully understand..." i smiled weakly, getting both of us an empty cup and filled them up halfway

The young scientist girl passed us. She insisted, recently, we call her Lynda, mainly so she could get used to a new name. She smiled. "You cant overdose on coffee, its not a drug," she laughed. "Someone should really explain these things to you more in depth..."

"then please do Lynda, it would be nice to not feel soclueless"

"Just ask if you have any questions," She offered kindly. "Oh, and I just remembered, theyre going to start placing people in homes now. Everyone who isnt 18 is placed in one until then-"

"Homes?"

"Theyre like facilities, only not sealed up and no experiments."

".... do we get to pick whom we can have come with us?" i asked, my hands clenching the handles on her wheelchair slightly, worried
