Polar opposite

I froze the brief second he touched my hand....then hurredly finished picking up the things.

Seeing how quickly she had move her hands away, I notice that the twins did it on purpose. "It appears we're almost to your place. It isn't that far from here, is it?" I ask looking over to the twins then to Miki. "Anthony and Alex, I would like to talk to you two. Mind meeting me at the park?" I said looking at them as I waited.

"...." My brothers exchanged glances.

"Yeah, we're about a block off..." I answered. As soon as we got inside the house, I started putting the things away. "You guys go to the park." I said. They started scuffling their way to the park

Once we got to their place, I gave them the rest of the bags and left for the park. By the time I had gotten there, I sat on the swings and swung myself back and forth as I waited for them.

"So, uh, what did you want to talk about?" Anthony said, as the two neared him at the park.

I turn to face the twins when I ask Anthony, "Did you do that on purpose? As in to trip and fall? You are quite clever..." I said looking at him when I came to a stop.

"He probably did. But he's been a major clutz lately so who knows." Alex shrugged. Anthony glared at him. "It was an accident," He answered firmly, then turned to face Yata, "So you take our sister as only a friend, right?" He asked. "Look me straight in the eye and tell me you only see her as a friend, no more."

Alex stared at his brother for making such a deep statement, since normally Alex was the one doing that.

"An accident you say? How so?" I ask but shook the thought away when I heard his question. Turning to face him, I eyed him in the eyes, "I am only her friend. Nothing more and nothing less, besides, I've already confronted my feelings for her and was rejected right away. Has she not told you about us changing partner? We've switched so there's no more to it than being just friends, right?" I said explaining to them that Miki and I only sees ourselves as friends.

"...She never told us she rejected you, she just said you found a way to switch partners. She seemed lighter, but for a few days she sat under her artificial rainstorm-no umbrella. I guess it stressed her for a while..." Anthony explained a bit. "But I guess we will just leave you two alone. We wont try anything." Alex concluded.

"...So do you have a girlfriend? Or are you avoiding that while you get settled on show biz?" Anthony asked, slightly changing the subject.

"I see. To me, it seems as though she rejected me that was one reason to why we switched though. Maybe not for her but for me to get past her. Not to mention, she's still dating Nathan isn't she?" I ask. "Why is she doing that? Is he heart broken or something?" I said again and nodded my head as in to agreed that the twins wouldn't bother them anymore.

"To answer you, no. I don't plan on having one any time soon. Like you said, I'm just going to settle into show biz for awhile before dating. The last time that I dated, it didn't turn out so well since it was Luna..." I mutter the last part.

"Shes still dating him. And what do you mean why? You only go out with someone because you like them, dont you?" Anthony asked.

"Thatw true," I answer shrugging my shoulders. "Hm graduation is near too isnt it?"

"Yeah like, 4 months?" Alex said quickly.

"...Have you guys noticed theyve been remodeling the mall?" Anthony suddenly said. "Theyre fixing the skylights."

"...What does that have to do with what we're talking about?"

"...I just wanted to bring it up...."

"I haven't been to the mall for awhile now..." I said and nodded my head "So are they almost done?" I ask.

"Maybe in a few weeks...it must be really hard, since theyre skylights..." Anthony mused. "Those things must be really heavy!"

"Probably..." I said and looks up at the sky.

"Yeah, well...We'll go help our sister bake. Wanna help too?" Anthony asked.

"I suppose so since its not dark out yet that..." I smile and decided to go with them.

"My sister is like, an expert when it comes to cooking. But she doesn't want to study that, she wants to study computer technology or something..." Anthony said.

"Couldn't she major in both? I mean have cooking as a minor course then for her major why not have computer technology?" I said when I heard what Anthony had said about Miki.

"I dont know. Ive asked her, but she changes the subject. Whenever she doesn't want to talk about something, she does that." Anthony shrugged.

"Has she always been like that though?" I ask.

"...No. Our dad got some mental illness and used to beat the crap out of her for a while, when we were little. So whenever someone tried to bring it up, she'd change the subject. Then she did that for everything. Later, Miki told us he got dementia, so now, he's kinda...dumb. Almost retarded, I guess." Anthony explained.

"Ah I see..." I said surprised that the twins even spoke about their father having a mental illness. 'So was that why she change the subject six months ago?' I thought and came to a stop in front of their house. "You think it would be alright if I just come in and help? I don't think she'll accept my offer..." I said feeling a bit uneasy about this.

"I think the more help, the better. Whenever she works on things like these, like for bakesales or events, she always ends up beat." Alex said.
