Knock Out Punch

Every year, it was increasingly starting to be a social norm of people being born with special powers. Birth rates of special children sky rocketed. Soon those special children grew up into special adults, starting the cycle again with new special children. Eventually, everyone in the world had special powers. It can range from controlling the weather to something silly at controlling leaves. With a world full of super powered beings, it came down to who was the strongest. It started down in high school level. Schools fought other schools. They send out their best fighters for underground tournaments. Fights were vicious and bloody but in the end, the victor would be called Duke and rule all of the high schools in the area. Next level is college. Same thing as high school but victor gets to be called Prince. Finally level is the real world. Fights and tournaments are hard to find. One must make a name for themselves before being even considered to fight in the big leagues. The victor who beats the King gets to rule as the new King. All this fighting is consider illegal but no one dares to stop it.
_____ is a freshman in high school and his dream is to become King, just like his great grandfather. He knows that he has to start making a name for himself first if he wants to make it in the final level. But after his first fight, he new right away he need to train if he ever want to keep himself up in a fight. But even after a year of training, he found himself out match to the big dogs. That is when he met Kai. His upper classmate (His senpai! //SHOT I am so sorry XD) who seemingly have no powers what so ever. After carefully digging around though, he found out that she has the power to double a person's power and give some added effect for a certain amount of time. All that with a kiss. If course there are those who wish to monopolize her but if she isn't willing, her powers do not work. A tournament is coming up... what will _____ do?

Power: Able to double a person's power with a kiss
Weakness: Being pretty much human
Bio: For a long time, people though that Kai was born an unlucky child with no powers. She was isolated for a time since no one wants to be around a powerless freak. For awhile, she tried doing experiments to get her powers to manifest. But with nothing working, she gave into her fate of being powerless. It was a fateful morning though, her father was leaving for work and Kai was home that day. Giving him a quick peak on the cheek for good bye, her and her mother watched him go. But when her father open the front door, he accidentally ripped the door from the door hinge. With proper testing, Kai and her family found out that she can increase people powers. Of course, her family was ecstatic of this find but Kai wasn't all to happy. She knows people would treat her differently. Guessing correctly, people began to kiss up to her in hopes that she will kiss them, boys and girls a like. Now Kai willingly isolated herself, not trusting others.

Powers: Ice mimicry- can turn his body into ice, and regenerate body parts after absorbing water. Very resistant to blows, can change form of ice into weapons
Enhance powers (like after getting a kiss): Nigh indestructible ice, dehydration(Only works when touching opponent)
Weakness: High Heat, prolonged exposure to fire, constant breaking of his limbs without enough water to replenish himself, weakening the strength of the ice- latter mostly averted after the kiss, still vulnerable to heat and fire, albeit at higher temperatures to take effect.
Bio: After his first fight, he began attempting increasing his resistance to heat and retaining his strength in his ice form under those circumstances, but realized that wasnt enough, so he started doing a bit of undercover work and learned of Kai's ability, but doesnt yet know of the kiss part...
Extra: He's hopelessly derpy, dense and immature at times. And  shy and awkward. And pretty much a cute loser who often seems too weak to do anything.

All around the school there was a whisper of an up coming tournament. This month's line up was apparently good with new stars and a couple of veterans from high schools all around the city. The school's administration are claiming to put their foot down to this brutal fighting but, everyone knows it was just a face they were giving to keep the media back. No one likes to make things any more complicated as it was. Kai's school was in a complete buzz of excitement. Everyone was pumped up for the fight since it'll be taking place on their school's ground. Meaning that their fighters have home ground advantage. Kai, though, found this rather troubling. It just means that the school will be a complete mess afterwards. She have to admit though, she hopes the fighting would get sort of out of hand and school will end up being closed due to damages.
Rummaging through her desk, Kai found couple of new letters. They all came from fighters begging to "bestow" her powers on to them so that they may win this month's tournament and bring greatness to the school. She just crumple them up though and threw them straight to the trash. "That makes 54 letters for this month," she thought with annoyance. She was always getting things like this. People always send her letters or call her out in hopes that she'll enhance their powers. Sometimes they would threaten her or even kidnap her to force her into using her powers. But she always leave unscratched since they know she is no use for them dead. "If these people still thought me as powerless, they wouldn't even glance at me," she thought bitterly. Just then, bright green eye. It was a girl who was not from her class. "Kai from class 2-C?" she asked her. "Uh, yeah? And you are?" Kai questioned her. "Oh! I'm Netty from class 3-C," the girl said, "So... I heard that you were blessed with a very special power." "Not interested. I'm not going to help you or your friends out," Kai shoot her down. "Oh come on! You can bring our school greatness just by helping out," Netty pushed. "No means no. I don't care about this school," she said just before she found her arms slowly being crushed by the hands of the girl. "We really need your help, you know? My boyfriend.... I want my boyfriend to be Duke!" she threaten Kai. Kai tries to pull away. "Stop it! I'm no use if I'm in the hospital," she hissed. Netty just glared at Kai for a few moments before finally letting go. "I'll not forget this.... you better watch your back. Enjoy the rest of your lunch period," she growl at her before rushing out the room. Kai slowly rubbed her sore arms as her eyes follow after the girl in her empty classroom. Kai is not going to lie. She was absolutely terrified at that moment. "That makes it 73 assaults this month," she thought sadly.

As always, everyone spoke of the tournament. And as always, they never mentioned him as one of the challengers. Everyone just ignored him. Then again, that was good- he had gotten something good out of the gossip. A girl, Kai...something, could increase his power. THAT he needed. He had been absolutely mauled at his first tournament, and despite his training, he doubted himself. They'll be more mobile than a dummy. Powerful too. All he had to do was ask-

And then he watched Kai be threatened by a girl in his class. Nettie, was it? Damn, shes scary...theyre right about the sweet ones... before he could intervene, though, Nettie stormed off. Clearly she hadnt gotten what she wanted. He swallowed nervously. Maybe i'll get lucky... If I can talk to her... He walked in, standing in front of Kai. He cleared his throat. "...K-k...Kai? Hi, im Louis..." He stuck out his hand awkwardly to shake. Then pulled it back, worried that Kai might think he might attack her. "Um...I was going to do the tournament thing, and I heard you help double up power. I was wondering if you could lend me your power? A little bit? W-well, actually, that would be inaccurate, since its a lot of tournaments to get to king status..." He held his breath, waiting for her response.

Kai didn't notice Louis walking into the classroom. She had her hand covering her face to help her compose herself from the attack from earlier. She was startled though when Louis started to talk to her. She quickly removed her hand from her face and dropped to her side. She glared at him for a moment. Not because she was angry but of suspicion. She glance at his outstretched hand but does not go to reach it. She just been threatened a moment before. It would be utterly stupid of her to drop her protective stance. God knows what kind of power this kid has. "At least he was smart enough to know to not push it," she thought silently. She raised an eyebrow at the way he spoke and what he asked for. She crossed her arms. "Not exactly overly confident like the other fighters who approach me, but just like Netty, I can't exactly trust appearances," she thought. She looked over Louis carefully, assessing him. "I'm sure you just saw me decline that girl who just assaulted me. What makes you think I would agree to helping you win this fight if I stood by my "no" even when being attacked," she told him, "I made it a point in this school that I will not help anyone. You are no different. So no I won't help you." She swipe up her text book that she originally planned to get and was about to walk pass him when she full comprehend what he asked of her. She stopped dead in her tracks and whipped her head to look at Louis dead on. "Wait. Are you implying that you just don't want my help for this one tournament but to help you reach all the way to king rank?!" she questioned him.She tucked her book under her arm and made a "time out" symbol with her hands. "Slow it down there, kid. How old are you? Hell, what grade are you? Way too early to be even thinking about king rank. The road to king rank is long and difficult. Lots of sacrifices," she said, "You need a solid plan if you really want the crown. What's your plan? You nobody?" She neatly sat on the desk nearby. She gracefully cross one leg over the other and place her book on her lap. Her full attention what now on Louis. "Louis... was it? You have five minutes before I leave and not even consider your case," she told him. She was rather amazed at him. This was the first time anyone came up to her and ask her help for something like this. Most cases are one time fights. Sometime gang related. Plus, Louis looks younger than her.

A flat no. Well, shiiiiii- Then she stopped, looked at him and acted rather surprised at his request, giving him another chance to try to earn her help. But what was he going to say? He didnt attempt to harrass her, he had already seen the results that earned. He took a deep breath.

"Well, im 15...but ive been training ever since my first fight, and I know its difficult; if it werent, what would be the point of king? No one would respect you, it would be a pointless title. Plus," he grinned, "my grandfather was King, so I figured my chances were good. Key word being figured. If it werent for my ability id be missing an arm." He chuckled. "I know im probably younger than most who come for your help, but this is something meaningful to me. Im kinda short on time, which is why Im asking you. If I had all the time in the world Id just keep training on my own, but I cant freeze time. Unfortunately."

Okay that sounded lame. But the truth is lame sometimes, right subconscious conscience?
Youll be lucky she even gives you a reason for her second flat out no.

"So...can I count on you?"

Kai stared down Louis after he speaks. She doesn't say anything for a long time and just thinks deeply about what he said. Finally she spoke. "At first I wasn't sure about you. But now I am," she started, "I was right in thinking that you are really a moron." She "lightly" smack the top of his head. She crossed her arms and gave him an annoyed look. "Just because your grandfather was once king does not mean you have a chance to be king too," she scolds him, "The odds that a family being able to hold the throne is so low that it's not even on a chart." Since most people that come up to her are usually older or her age, it was a good change of pace her. Now she could be the one to dish out some wisdom. "Get your head out of the clouds, kid. You are still young and got a lot of time to think about this. You don't need to start your fighting career right away," she tells him, "You have all throughout high school and college to get some reputation. Even if you don't, you can work hard as an adult to find some street fights." She straightens herself out. "Plus, I can not guarantee that my powers will help yours. It all depends on luck. Yes it enhances people powers but I can't promise it'll be that helpful," she said, "What is your power?" She goes quiet when she hear some voice going down the hall. She doesn't feel like being seen talking to a freshmen nor does she want any new rumors floating about. When the voices are gone, she continues. "What did you hear about my powers so that I can destroy any misconceptions now," she order him. She debating if she should tell him no right at that moment.

Damn you, subconscious conscience, why are you right all the time!?

Then again, he was getting another chance. He rubbed the back of his head where Kai had smacked him. "Ice. Thats pretty much my ability. I can turn my body to ice, and shape it from there, as well as using ice to restore broken parts of my body. I can keep the ice solid up to 323 degrees fahrenheit. Im trying to work up a higher resistance, but...ice is water. I start evaporating. So I basically reasoned that with your ability, I can make the ice more resistant to heat and blows." He sighed. "Youre not the first person who calls me a moron- hell, I get that from myself a lot. But I seriously dont have the time you say, else id have never asked you. Ive known about your enhancement abilities for a while now- im pretty sure everyone who lives nearby knows- but im desperate now for your help, so please, help me. I just want to recieve the title, then i'll never bother you again. Or better yet-" he suddenly got an idea, "I can make sure people dont bother you- at least, physically. That way people dont assault you anymore- physically, since I dont know if I can stop people from sending written messages and stuff..."

Kai raised an eyebrow at what he offered. "Oh?" she mumbled. She laughed slightly. "You just told me that you were utterly destroyed in the last tournament yet you promise to protect me if I help you out?" she pointed out. She leans back. "My powers only have an effect for about an hour before wearing off," she told him, "If I'm not around, you are pretty much a walking target." She frowns suddenly as she realize something after she said that. "Ah, but... am I not a walking target myself too?" she said, more for herself than Louis. She looks down back at him, carefully calculating. "Ice, huh," she mumbled as she thought to herself. Realization suddenly built up in her. "This could work, " she said in surprise. "People aren't stupid to mess with someone with a title and if you keep your promise of protecting me, I wouldn't have to worry about these things anymore," she said, coming to a conclusion. She gets up from where she sat. "Alright kid, you got yourself a consideration," she told him. She walks pass him and look back at him right before she leaves the room. "The tournament is tomorrow, right? I'll help you then but you have to win if you want me to help you reach king," she told him, "Remember this deal and... don't be late." After that, she left the classroom without another word. She was proud with herself, needless to say and she was rather excited. Finally, this power of hers came to some use. (Time skip to the tournament?)

You have to win, you twit. You havent fought for a year. Beating up a dummy and practicing in an oven doesnt garantee you a win; hell, you might lose even with her help.

"I wont let you down, I promise." After she left, he did a little victory dance. "Its in the bag♪ we're gonna win~"

Louis met up with Kai just outside where the tournament was going to be held. "Whats up?" He looked very bouncy and eager for the tournament.
