The Last Free Man

"can you see why im so hesitant? we need to apply for the right to keep our children... and then there is my Sickness! i need to get that fixed before we can apply, as that will help our chances..." i said, nodding, my voice just as quiet, but i pulled her close

"...Theres so much we have to do..." I said softly. "...You know...the person who might have a cure for your illness...we can go see him today...so we can get that out of the way..."

"lets go..." i said, nodding to her, and smiled weakly "at least we have an advantage...." i smiled

"...." i sighed, wakeing up, and looked down at the bandages on my chest, glad that i didnt need to worry about tempature

"Good morning! How do you feel?"
(they are...where? At home?)

"doing fine... hurts a little, but i can tell that cold or heat wont affect me like it did anymore...." i said simply, sitting up slowly
(no, at the building of the man who helped em, sorry for not saying :/)

"Well, you were out for quite a while. Like Pyon said, its morning." The man that helped him walked into the room, with a tray of food.He looked like he was 30 ish. I looked at him and smiled. "Thankyou Ellian, for helping us." He patted me on the head. Ellian then turned his attention to him. "You might feel really uncomfortable and ill-maybe nauseous- at certain temperatures since your body isnt used to them, but after a few weeks you'll bear with them like any other average individual. Probably even better, i'm not sure. Research needs to be done, so can you two come by more often? For research purposes?"
"Sure! Well, I'll go get my stuff..." I left the room.

( Ellian 3rd person pov)
Ellian sat down and sighed. "Its been a while since i've done something like this...Something illegal. Apparently they didn't want you cured. I checked your file. But I'll do anything for Pyon, she's like a daughter to me...even if we did drift apart since the accident...So feel lucky you're with Pyon."

"Thanks.... it means alot, and ill come by every day with lunch for a month for what you did for me..." i said, nodding to him, and bowed in respect to him as well

Ellian beamed. "These are the little moments im thankful I cant die."

"What do you mean you cant die?" i asked curiously as i struggled to get my shirt back on slowly, looking down a bit to help get it over my head

He sighed again. "I lived during the short time anyone 'plotting treason' was arrested and either killed or just used for sure death experiments, the one accused and their closest family. In my case...my wife." His voice cracked a bit. "I wish I had died, not her. I wish the serum had killed me, instead of doing the opposite. But...you cant change these things." He shrugged.

"... im sorry... my mother is the one who started this crap, she tortured me to exploit my sickness to help her own... then left me to die..." i sighed, looking at him with tired eyes... "tell me, what is your favorite food? i will start making it for lunch for ya, something only few people have the privilage to get..." i said, patting his shoulder

"Naw, dont worry yourself about that. I already ate. Moving on, then that explains why they wouldn't have treated you in a typical hospital, even if you paid up. Cruel world, it is now... and seeing it all happen. This must be how God feels."

(Pyons pov)
"Sorry I took so long! I couldn't find my sweater for some reason..." I said, walking back into the room. Ellian turned and smiled at me. "Oh! im sorry if this sounds intrusive or anything...im curious, is all...are you planning on having kids?"

My smile faded a bit. "...I dont know..."

"we are still debateing on that, but we got permission to do so if we wish..." i said honestly, looking over at her first, then back to Ellian and nodded "ill come by tomorrow so you can check up on me..." i chuckled, nodding at him

Ellian patted us both on the head. "Well, both of you, take care. And dont push yourself," the last part Ellian looked at him when he said it."Oh! I dont think I quite caught your name..."

"Xion..." i said simply, looking at him with a smile

"Well, I have other things to do, so im not walking you out the door. Not that you need it." He left the room. "Sweater?" I offered.

"for now, lets play it safe..." i nodded, walking over to her slowly and carefully till i knew my limitations of movement

"...Does it hurt a lot?"

"only slightly, but its fading with time..." i smiled, telling her how i felt at the moment, kissing her cheek gentally

I smiled. "Thats good." I took his hand. "Lets hurry then."

"hurry where?" i asked, taking her hand as well and followed her outside with curiousity
